Lot Photo Description Realized
Lot 1401
1795. PCGS graded MS-64. Only 1,750 examples are estimated to have survived. Well struck with attractive toning of deep blue and russet around the rims, lighter silver centers. The strike is bold on Liberty's hair curls, and the eagles shows his wing feathers well. Trace adjustment marks are noted on the reverse, but the power of the strike nearly obliterated them. An important type coin which is rarely found this well preserved and seldom any finer. Pop 23; 25 finer (PCGS # 4251) .
Estimated Value $19,000 - 20,000.

Lot 1402
1795 LM-10, R-3. PCGS graded AU-50. Nice blue and gold toning. The surfaces show a few small marks when closely examined, as one would expect even after limited circulation. This is a plentiful die pairing and a good many examples have the die cud that formed to the tops of the TY and ninth star to the rim above. Most of these early half dimes circulated hard and long, and this series remains one of the most challenging to find wholesome coins to represent this issue. So many of these tiny coins were damaged or bent from the original mintage that collectors have to look long and hard to find one that is acceptable. This example is quite outstanding and will certainly please any numismatist. Only 1,750 examples are estimated to have survived (PCGS # 4251) .
Estimated Value $5,500 - 6,000.
